All positions on the Board of Directors were filled. We would like to thank the members of the Board of Directors for their invaluable commitment to the mission of the Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s Syndrome Association.<\/p>\r\n<p>By joining or renewing your membership, you enable the Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s Syndrome Association to pursue its mission, which is defined as follows:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><em>To support people living with Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s syndrome;<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li><em>Develop information tools for patients, the general public and healthcare professionals;<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li><em>Raise awareness of Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s syndrome to encourage screening for rapid diagnosis, better treatment and follow-up;<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li><em>Encourage medical research.<\/em><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>To become a member of the Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s Syndrome Association or to renew your membership, please complete the<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sjogren.ca\/en\/?page_id=2929\">online form<\/a><\/strong>. You can also download the<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sjogrens.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/1.SJOGREN-12.2e-ADHESION-2024-04-05.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">form in PDF version<\/a><\/strong>, fill it out and send it to us by mail.<\/p>\r\n<p>Our Association has volunteers who are Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s sufferers. They are available to provide information and support by phone or e-mail in English and French. You can contact a member of our team by calling 877-934-3666 or leave a message on our voice mail or by filling in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sjogren.ca\/en\/contact-us\/#contactus\">this form<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sjogren.ca\/en\/support\/\"><strong>Support group<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0offer members and their loved ones the opportunity to meet others in similar situations. These <a href=\"https:\/\/sjogren.ca\/en\/support-meeting\/\"><strong>meetings<\/strong><\/a> enable participants to share their concerns, worries and questions. It&#8217;s also a place to exchange experiences, success stories, advice, tips, challenges and strategies for understanding and overcoming difficulties.<\/p>\r\n<p>These support meetings take place in virtual mode on the Zoom platform. Members interested in taking part in one or other of the meetings should \u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sjogren.ca\/en\/support-meeting\/#formulaire\">register online<\/a><\/strong> or leave their contact details at the following e-mail address: <strong><a href=\"mailto:sjogrenquebec@gmail.com\">sjogrenquebec@gmail.com<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>In conclusion, on December 16, 2024, we will mark 28 years of existence for the Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s Syndrome Association.<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>We would like to thank you for your support. Texier, Montr\u00e9al (Qu\u00e9bec)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><b>Governor General&#8217;s Caring Canadian Award<\/b><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>In 1994, Ginette Texier co-founded the Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s Syndrome Association. Despite her own frail health, as she herself lives with Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s Syndrome, she co-ordinates activities for the Association several days each week, organizing support sessions, operating a phone-in service and publishing a monthly newsletter. She also promotes medical conferences and solicits financial grants. The heart and soul of the organization, Mrs. Texier gives her all to the service of Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s Syndrome patients.<\/li>\r\n<li><em>On February 9, 2004, Mrs. Ginette Texier received the Sovereign&#8217;s Medal for Volunteers from the Governor General of Canada, Mrs. Adrienne Clarkson.<\/em> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gg.ca\/en\/honours\/recipients\/342-75961\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Learn more&#8230;<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/section>\r\n<hr \/>\r\n<h2>Acknowledgements<\/h2>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Special thanks to Jeanine Boyer, Ginette Texier and Patricia Brown, co-founders of the organization. The Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s Syndrome Association Inc. is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to support and inform people with Sj\u00f6gren&#8217;s syndrome (pronounced &#8220;SHOW-grins&#8221;) and their loved ones.
